Today we went to the Illinois state fair! (we were pretty excited about it, if you couldn't tell)
I must give a shoutout thanks to my awesome friend Katie, who found out about it and suggested we all go.
Well worth the hour drive to Springfield.
Unfortunately, I had to work tonight, so our fair day was cut short. However, we did manage cram a lot of quality fairage into a few hours.
We smelled/pet tons of animals:
cows
sheep
pigs
horses
llamas
rabbits
snakes (yes dad, even cornsnakes)
show/hunting dogs
fish of all kinds
hissing cockroaches
a baby alligator
one shy armadillo
many taxidermied things
We saw/heard:
a ferris wheel
lumberjacks
dockjumping dogs
mullets
tacky graphic T's
racecars
tractors
cowboy boots
twangy accents
baton-twirling preteens
We ate food (mostly of the fried variety):
corndogs
hotdogs
french fries
fried snickers bar (jonny's lifelong dream fulfilled)
fried green tomatoes
elephant ear (like a giant scone)
fudge
icecream sandwiches
all in all, a great day. :)
