Our trip was amazing. A week in Rome, a few days in Florence, a side trip to Pisa, and few days in Venice. Lots of train/bus/metro travel, lots of picnics, lots of walking.



Rome:
We saw all sorts of amazing things in this sprawling city. The Colosseum and Forum, St. Peters, Sistine chapel, and the Vatican museum, enough art to fill tons of textbooks. Every piazza, fountain, street, and church was gorgeous. Rode bikes in a park, rode the metro everywhere, shopped in flea markets.


Florence:
The Duomo, beautiful streets, Uffizi art gallery, Michelangelos David. Strolls along small streets eating gelato, nighttime riverwalks and overlooking the city. Street artists and musicians. The countryside of Tuscany was a wonderful view from the train, and Pisa-the leaning tower was more beautiful than we expected, white marble facing.


Venice:
Kissed on Rialto bridge, cruised the Grand Canal, visited islands. Murano glass blowing, midnight dancing in St. Marks square, dueling orchestras. Walked over hundreds of canal bridges.

It was breathtaking to be among so much history and beautiful architecture, to witness the works of masters of the Renaissance and genious creations of the Romans. Though these are super-condensed summaries and gross understatements, it would take pages and pages to really explain everything in detail.
