Holding On to Summer

We have been holding on to the very end of summer...holding on tightly, trying not to let it slip through our fingers, as the cold winds and dark mornings and responsibilities of fall threaten to pull it from our grasp. It is slowly fading like the sunlight after a long, bright day.

We made the most of it this past weekend as we had a delicious backyard BBQ with our friends Katie and Carl, and their cute dog Moses! We also went with the youth of our ward (and we met another ward there) to the LDS temple in St. Louis, Missouri! We drove through the corn fields, over the Mississippi river and arrived to a beautiful sight. It was a wonderful experience for all the youth and I think everyone had a good time. (especially the leaders!) We went out to eat at Red Robin and had the biggest burgers of our lives and bottomless steak fries!
Even after the long drive home, I decided the night was still young and (somehow) my stomach was not full, so Katie and I went to downtown Urbana for the annual Sweet Corn Festival! We enjoyed (of course) sweet corn, kettlecorn, fruit smoothies and live music with hundreds of other festival-goers.

(please excuse my crazed smile...and notice the sweatshirts. wah. :( )

So here's to you summer, you came and went too fast. I'll forgive you... as long as you keep coming back every year.

Hey Mary and John,

The St. Louis temple is beautiful - we haven't been inside yet but we went and walked around the grounds last Sunday. It's too bad we missed you guys. We were thinking about going up to the Nauvoo Temple on Labor Day weekend to go to the temple on Saturday. We thought it would be cool to meet you there if you guys could or wanted to go.
