snow.

hmmmm.

when i'm not snowboarding.......its a love/hate relationship, me and snow.
usually a little heavy on the hate side.

but recently, i've been surprising myself. its been leaning towards love.

after a heavy snowfall during the night, the roads were cleared and the sun started to peek over the sheer cloud layer. one of my favorite things to do after it snows is take a drive. yesterday on my way home from my school placement, i drove on the highway in the late afternoon. the time when the light is low and warm, and everything seems to sparkle. i saw vast cornfields that looked peaceful, instead of bleak. i saw single farmhouses surrounded by sweeping white acreage, lonely in a sea of flat, rich soil but for the 3 tall trees standing steady nearby. i saw a yellow schoolbus riding on a country road along the orange horizon, narrow city streets with brick roads and snowy sidewalks, and hundreds of tall trees, bare but still powerful, wearing a layer of snow that reminded me of icing and frost. i saw beautiful old homes, the white fluff lining the roofs and windowsills, the glow of light from inside seeming to melt the frozen icicles hanging silent on the sides.

then i came home, and lay in the front yard to make this:

i blinked as huge flakes landed on my eyelashes and stuck my tongue out to catch some floating snow. and i laughed.

sometimes, i like snow.
