Six.

This tiny cabin was nothing short of magic for me. No clocks, no to-do lists.
Fresh from work, escaping the known world, seeking solitude.
Exploring the woods nearby, snow crunching underfoot, noses red, fingertips frosty.
Eating warm beef stew and thick slices of homemade bread, exchanging small gifts.
Playing cards under a big blanket, sharing laughter and a celebratory box of chocolates.
Late night gooey s'mores and silent reading of books, cuddled in thermals and wool socks.
Out into the night air, blackness all around, heads tilted up to a sky of magnificent stars.
Laying together, with whispers and hands on my belly, our new love dancing.
Hearts full, spirits content, comfortable with the peace of life lived and life planned together.
Falling asleep to the glow of the fire, the crackle of the wood stove, the puppy's soft snore.
Waking to the first light of the sun, shining through the glass bottles in the walls.
Legs and arms stretching, taking in the stillness and the slow pace of the forest.
Sizzling sausage and fluffy pancakes on the skillet, mugs of hot cocoa for cold fingers.
The first breaths of crisp morning air, filling my lungs, promising adventure.
Up up up, a short drive on windy roads, sharing excited glances and smiles.
Further into the mountains, snow resting on tree branches and frozen rivers.
Preparing a pack, stepping into our gear, snowshoes strapped, starting off on the trail.
Happy dog bounding ahead, the steady beat of our trudging, he checks if I'm alright.
Sun and shadows through towering pines, slopes and signs, we make our way together.
The final destination, I hold my breath, try to capture the view, worth every step.
Faces turned to the sun, resting and snacking, cool water tastes so good.
The journey home, racing the sun, dry clothes in the car, toasty toes under the heater.
A twilight stop in an old mining town, creamy huckleberry ice cream in giant cones.
Home again, smelling like campfire, tired and satisfied, with promises to return again.

Happy Sixth Anniversary, Jonny. You are my everything.
