If my memory serves me, the first annual Gale Sister Weekend took place in 2007.
I had moved away from home the year before and we 4 sisters were spread across 4 states. I don't remember who had the crazy idea, but someone wanted to run a half-marathon. And challenged/ invited the others to join. So we met up near Houston TX and we all ran 13.1 miles on the beach. After which, we gorged ourselves at a Texas stake house and had a well deserved post-run pampering at a day spa, complete with white puffy robes. No kids, no husbands. Thus, the idea of Sister Weekend was born.
We've met every year since then. It grew to include our Mom, and a special cousin who feels every bit like a sister.
We've gone to Las Vegas, San Francisco, Bakersfield, Park City, and Logan.

Activities have ranged from sprint triathlons, white water rafting, roller coasters, mud runs and zip lining, to pedicures, graduations, temples, baby showers, pool parties, fashion shows, dance clubs, and shopping.
This year, Mom was in charge of the planning. She pulled a quick one on us, and invited the original adventurer- our Dad!
So commenced the fantastic Sister Weekend + Dad of 2013.

The San Pedro portion included a tour of my parents' old stomping grounds. Our minivan turned into a DeLorean for a second and we traveled back in time to visit places such as- the houses where they each grew up, their old elementary and high schools, the park where he popped the question, the church that held their wedding reception, their first place, the hospital where my oldest sister was born. So many precious stories of our family's beginnings in the sunny hills of southern California. There was also this one about my Dad camping with some wild boars on Catalina Island as a teenager...but.
