snow is magical!

"...Complicating the efforts to restore power was the deluge of snow that closed many rural roads and ice that slickened others, hindering access by utility crews to affected power lines and raising the specter that service for some Ameren-served homes and business may not be restored for days, Morris said.

By the time it finally eased out of hard-hit central and western Illinois, the storm had left 15 to 20 inches of snow behind, Lincoln-based National Weather Service meteorologist Chuck Schaffer said. The trouble didn't end there: Wind gusts late Tuesday and into Wednesday topped 50 mph in some places, blowing and sculpting the snow into drifts at times as tall as the NBA's Shaquille O'Neal.

Biting cold through much of the state was forecast Wednesday night and Thursday, dipping to lows below zero — and the wind making it feel like it's 25 below, Schaffer said.

"It's not good out there, and it's probably going to be Friday until there's any return to a semblance of normalcy," Ameren's Morris said..."

Seriously?

I firmly believe that if God had intended humans to live in this type of environment, we would be born with fur. And perhaps shovel-shaped hands. And while we are at it...some sort of de-icing agent that squirts out of our toes. Gross.

Call me a wimp, but this is unnaturally horrible. And I won't stand for it, Illinois. I won't.

Let it be known: if you don't shape up, I'm shipping out.
