the 4th

finally, i'm posting about our 4th of july.
(riddle me this- why do we just call this holiday by its date? we don't call Christmas the 25th of december...or Thanksgiving the 3rd thursday in november....so why don't we call the holiday that falls on the 4th of july, independence day? or something more creative?)

we took a fantastic QUICK, much too quick, trip to beautiful beautiful Logan, Utah. (it was bittersweet to be so close to our old home in Provo and yet not have time to pop in and visit. until next time, BYU.) our wonderful friends took care of Colby for us so we could fly out west and enjoy some time in the rocky mountains with Jonny's family.

Family.
mostly, that's what its all about. we celebrated the 20th reunion grandma Betty and grandpa Jimmy have had for their growing family. we visited a cemetery and learned about Jonny's ancestors on his mom's side. we ate, laughed, cried and played with cousins, caught up with the adults and chased the kids. the warm summer evenings followed games in the cool grass and barbecued meat and sweet lemonade. we shot paper rockets into the sky and watched a classic car parade. we spent lots of time with Emilee and Jeffery, who left on their missions TODAY. i enjoyed an impromptu concert by the 'young family orchestra'. (seriously, how did i sneak into such a beautiful, loving, talented family??) i am so blessed.
