We spent the fourchachulaii in a beach house in California with my whole family. It was the stuff of dreams. Our little firecracker dipped his toes into the Pacific Ocean for the first time. There was fire-grilled meat and cold lemonade, juicy watermelon and sticky ice cream fingers. The sunny day gave way to a perfect coastal night via a colorful sunset. We wrapped in sweatshirts and sat on the deck to watch the fireworks blast off from the pier, their bright lights reflecting on the water. I'm thankful to live in this beautiful land where we enjoy so many blessings and opportunities. And I appreciate the brave ones throughout the ages that have fought for our freedom in so many ways. Not only with weapons, but with words, and everyday acts of courage.
